Cairo, 1 November 2024
Today marks the launch of Cairo Urban Week (CUW), setting the stage for the twelfth session of the World Urban Forum (WUF12) taking place in Cairo this November. Running from 1 to 3 November, the Week invites participants to experience Cairo’s unique heritage, public spaces, and community-driven urban transformation efforts. Cairo Urban Week is designed to offer a dynamic programme fostering dialogues on sustainable urbanization and spotlighting local perspectives and initiatives.
Starting on 1 November at the Grand Egyptian Museum, Cairo Urban Week will explore the evolution of the city’s public spaces and their historical and future impact. The week will feature expert-led discussions on urban challenges, a legacy public space project benefiting families in a neighbourhood of Cairo, and side events that celebrate the city’s heritage, including film screenings and guided tours through Old and Downtown Cairo.
