Territorial management requires the implementation of urban policies at the appropriate level, to meet the challenges of integrated systems of cities and human settlements, promoting cooperation between all levels of government to achieve integrated sustainable urban development. Currently, UN-Habitat, through the Policy, Legislation and Governance Section, is developing a Conceptual and Methodological Guideline for Sub-national Urban Policy, which will be presented in November with the contribution of experts, partners and based on in experiences of sub-national urban policy cases formulated and implemented by various governments.
The role of the case studies in the guide is fundamental, they inspire and validate the concepts and methodologies, and they also guide, based on facts, the experience that having an urban policy and its contribution to achieving progress in the sub-national territory has meant. sustainable development.
Documented cases will be incorporated into the “SUB-NATIONAL URBAN POLICIES GUIDELINE” as inspiring cases of good practice.
In order to document inspiring cases, we have started the compilation of case studies on sub-national urban policies, through the “INSPIRING PRACTICES IN SUB-NATIONAL URBAN POLICY TEMPLATE” that incorporates information from the context of the sub-national territory under study, from the strategic focus of the policy, methodological aspects of the policy process and information and recommendations on the policy experience.
The case studies must be completed in the template assigned below (available in languages, English, French and Spanish) and sent to the organizing team.
